Shrichand Fauji Memorial School (SFMS) is a non-profit educational institution located in the Garhwal region of Uttarakhand, India. Established on September 1st, 2016, SFMS was founded to address the poor quality of education and pervasive poverty in the region. Our mission is to provide children from impoverished backgrounds with an excellent education, offering them a chance to improve their lives and break the cycle of poverty.
The Garhwal region faces significant challenges due to global climate change, including reduced rainfall, unpredictable monsoons, and declining water tables. These environmental issues have made traditional farming increasingly difficult, contributing to widespread poverty. The lack of quality education in the area has left many young people without the skills needed for higher education or better-paying jobs.
